Job Summary:

Intermountain Health is seeking a skilled Emergency Department Technician to join our team. As a critical member of the patient care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support services in a fast-paced emergency department environment.

Main Responsibilities:

">
  • ">
  • Obtain patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and understand normal ranges and changes">
  • Collect blood, urine, saliva, and stool samples for laboratory analysis">
  • Insert Foley catheters, perform straight catheters, provide wound care, fit patients for casts and/or hard splints, crutches, and other devices">
  • Perform 12-lead EKGs">
  • Provide instruments to doctors and nurses as they perform procedures on patients">
  • Assist with the safe movement of patients, applying principles of safe patient handling">
  • Assist with admitting patients into the ER, schedule patient transfers, reinforce patient education/discharge instructions as given by the RN">
  • Apply, check, and document restraints as directed by the RN or Physician">
  • Maintain patient charts, respond to phone calls, maintain daily assignment board, provide equipment care/cleaning, perform errands associated with patient care, and provide accurate information about the patient to the interdisciplinary team">
  • Promote mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and abide by Service Behavior Standards">
  • Demonstrate and adhere to the standards of infection prevention">
  • Perform other duties as assigned">

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required">
  • Completion of Basic EMT training program or Paramedic Training is required in the state of practice/Colorado state">
  • Current Basic EMT or Paramedic license in the state of practice is required (Colorado state)">
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval">
  • Current IV Certification in the state of practice is required (Colorado state)">

  • Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required">
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions">

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy

">

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients

">

Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, typically including items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items

">

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items

">

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time

">

Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment

Salary:

The estimated salary for this position is $20.00-$25.33 per hour, based on industry standards and location.
