About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform histotechnology procedures such as processing, embedding, cutting, mounting, and staining of tissue specimens for evaluation and diagnosis by Pathologists.
  • Cut and embed various types of biopsy and surgical tissues.
  • Perform simple immunohistochemistry procedures.
  • Prepare laboratory solutions as needed in procedures.
  • Assist in Fine Needle Aspiration collection.
  • Use, care and maintain histology instruments.
  • Adhere to quality control and quality assurance requirements and perform low to medium complexity research projects.

Requirements
  • Certified, or certified within two years from the date of hire, at the Technician level by a nationally recognized certifying agency such as the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Scientists or the Microscopy Society of America.
