">Job Summary:">We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join our team. In this role, you will develop analytic algorithms and conduct computational scientific inquiries in large cancer genomics datasets. You will work independently within the scientific framework of the PI's laboratory and may supervise junior technical and academic computational genomics staff.
">Duties and Responsibilities:">- Initiate, interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate research assignments critical to our department's mission.
- Formulate and conduct research on problems of considerable scope and complexity.
- Explore subject areas, define scopes, and select problems for investigation through conceptually related studies or series of projects of lesser scope.
- Makes decisions and recommendations that have a major impact on extensive scientific research activities.
- Develop new ideas that promote current research. Exercise high creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive scientific research programs and activities of outstanding novelty and/or importance.
- Manage lab operations for the Principal Investigator by supervising Post Docs and technicians. Oversee maintenance and upkeep of all instruments and laboratory facilities.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of research projects.
- Provide students with technical guidance and direction in operating various sample preparation techniques, extraction lines, and equipment as well as general laboratory practices and safety protocols.
- Seek grant funding from external sources in support of independent research projects with consent of the PI and Department Chair. Participate in writing grant proposals.
- Responsible for research/lab quality control and compliance.
- Determine and establish laboratory policies, procedures, and practices.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of advances in specialized fields through attendance of scientific conferences.
- Make significant contributions to scientific papers. Serve as resource/author/co-author for reports and presentations.
- Recommend equipment purchases and redesign lab space.
- Coordinate activity and experimental design between various labs, scientific staff, and collaborators. Identify and resolve technical problems.
- Serve on internal committees to help further goals of research projects and bring new expertise to the research program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
To qualify, you must have a PhD and 3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
">Substantial experience from having completed postdoctoral training is preferred. A record of publications is also desired.

">We offer a competitive salary range: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 annually. The actual salary depends on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs.
