Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Mental Health Team Lead - Behavioral Care Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing behavioral health technicians, planning for high-risk patients, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with personal grooming and daily living activities, promoting independence and dignity among our patients.
- Participate in educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities, fostering a sense of community and social interaction among our patients.
- Oversee behavioral health technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent patient care.
- Plan for high-risk patients, identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, communicating observations and patient indicators to colleagues and management.
- Work collaboratively with resource nurses to develop plans for at-risk patients, ensuring seamless care coordination.
- Support visitation guidelines and policies, promoting open communication and transparency among patients, families, and staff.
- Identify, report, and resolve unit problems, upholding our commitment to quality and excellence.
- Complete documentation, including incident reports and seclusion/restraints, accurately and timely.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living, vital signs, and Point of Care testing, contributing to comprehensive patient assessment and care.
- Apply and remove physical restraints, conducting audits and restraint debriefs to ensure best practices.
- Respond to Crisis Intervention Response Teams Codes, charting audits for ASQ compliance, and promoting a culture of safety and respect.
- Participate in committees or groups, sharing expertise and knowledge to drive continuous improvement.
Supervisory Duties
- Oversee, educate, and guide behavioral health technicians and support staff, fostering a culture of growth and development.
Education and Experience
- An Associate degree with six months of direct patient care experience or a High School diploma with five years of experience in Mental Health.
License and Certification
- BLS / CPR certification, demonstrating your commitment to delivering high-quality care.
- Certification in the current de-escalation program, showcasing your expertise in crisis intervention and management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A thorough understanding of Connecticut Children's policies and procedures, guiding your actions and decisions.
- Basic medical terminology, mathematics, and measurements, ensuring accurate documentation and care coordination.
- A deep understanding of aggressive behavior management and organization environment of care, informing your approach to patient care.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication, building strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Stress Management/Composure and physical interventions, staying calm under pressure and responding effectively to challenging situations.
- The ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards, upholding our commitment to excellence.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
