Wildlife Conservation Specialist

About the Role:
Tetra Tech is seeking a part-time Avian Biologist to support environmental assessments at proposed wind farm locations in the Upper Midwest. As an Avian Biologist, you will conduct field surveys, adhering to standardized protocols, and collect detailed data.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct avian surveys in various weather conditions.
- Accurately identify local bird species.
- Familiarize yourself with GPS, compasses, binoculars, tablets, and digital cameras.
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling due to changing field conditions.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively.
Requirements:
- 0-5 years of experience conducting pre-construction avian point county surveys.
- Able to accurately identify local avian species by sight.
- Familiarity with USFWS Land-based Wind Energy Guidelines and Eagle Conservation Guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and as part of a team.
- Possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to walk around project sites.
- Carry up to 20 pounds of equipment during field work.
Work Environment:
- Field work may occur in remote locations with uneven terrain.
- Night travel may be required.
Compensation:
The rate of pay for this position is estimated to be $17-$25 per hour, based on education, experience, and location.
