Sterile Processing Technician I

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician I to join our team at Billings Clinic. As a key member of our Sterile Processing Services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients.
As a Sterile Processing Technician I, you will be responsible for maintaining, decontaminating, assembling, inspecting, packaging, sterilizing, storing, distributing, and tracking surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment in a quality and timely manner.
You will serve as a resource to our sterile processing customers, providing expert guidance and support to ensure the safe and effective use of medical instruments and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Decontamination: Sort, disassemble, decontaminate, clean, and disinfect instruments and clinical equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Instrument assembly and packaging: Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality, assemble instruments correctly, and package them appropriately for validated sterilization methods.
- Sterilization/High-Level Disinfection (HLD): Select and follow correct principles of sterilization/HLD, properly document and verify sterilization loads and biological tests, and understand the advantages and limitations of each sterilization method.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school graduate or equivalent.
- Certification in sterile processing, CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) through IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management) or equivalent within 18 months of hire.
