Salary RangeThe estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 per year, based on industry standards and location.
Job DescriptionFamily Housing Program OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Homeless Family Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Innovative Programs Department, you will play a crucial role in supporting asylum-seeking and displaced families in achieving stability and self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with partner attorneys at NYLAG to ensure families have access to essential services.
- Assist in screening families for eligibility and completing applications for asylum.
- Support families in navigating appointments related to asylum status and work authorization.
- Accompany families to court and biometric appointments.
- Work with shelter staff and income specialists to help families obtain benefits.
- Provide know-your-rights training to families across Win Transitional Housing Sites.
- Advocate for the needs of asylum-seeking and displaced families within the organization and in external partnerships.
- Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field with 2 years relevant experience or 5 years relevant experience.
- Foundational knowledge of the US immigration system.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
- Highly organized and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
