Maintenance Specialist II Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist II to join our team at Texas State Technical College. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing semi-skilled work operations with a high degree of autonomy in various trades, including plumbing, heating and air conditioning, carpentry, painting, and basic equipment repair.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of equipment, including cleaning condenser coils, replacing or cleaning filters, checking oil levels, and lubricating.
  • Perform plumbing operations, such as cutting, threading, and joining pipe, replacing gaskets and washers, and unstopping drains.
  • Perform carpentry operations, including cutting lumber to specified lengths, removing partitions, and repairing or replacing window glass.
  • Install and/or repair internal and external walls, including sheet rock, paneling, trim, and siding.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience in general maintenance or building construction
  • Dependability and teamwork skills
  • Technical skills and ability to work with various tools and equipment
  • Valid Texas Driver's license and insurability under TSTC's Liability Policy
  • Abatement Certification from an accredited agency
