Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is $149,700-$224,500. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay, as well as Long Term Incentives.

Job Description

We are seeking a Sr Staff Systems Engineer Radiation Effects for the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This position will be located in Roy, Utah. The successful candidate will use their experience and education in radiation effects modeling and testing to design systems that will operate in extremely hostile environments.

The ideal candidate will guide and mentor a team of engineers in the science of nuclear weapon effects modeling and parts/equipment testing. Strong knowledge of radiation transport modeling and simulation is required, along with strong knowledge of radiation transport testing to include x-ray thermal shock testing.

Additionally, the candidate should have strong experience in performing total dose (TD), dose rate (DR), neutron displacement damage (NDD), and single event effect (SEE) heavy ion testing. Strong experience in performing radiation effects circuit analyses is desired, including TREE, SGEMP, and EMP.

Good familiarity with other nuclear environmental effects is also desired, including high altitude EMP, source region EMP, magneto-hydrodynamic EMP, ground shock, and thermal effects.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics from an accredited university
  • Minimum 14 years of experience or 12 Years with Master's; 9 Years with PhD
  • 10+ years experience in modeling and testing with respect to radiation effects
  • 8+ years experience in nuclear weapon effects modeling and parts/equipment testing
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with investigation in the last 6 years
  • Ability to get a Top Secret clearance

Work Schedule

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80A, which allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
