Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington DC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Security Officer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the security industry, law enforcement, or military, with excellent customer service skills.

Job Summary

The Security Officer will be responsible for protecting employees, visitors, and patients while ensuring the safety and security of all properties within the facility. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Patrol the Health Center and grounds to detect potential threats, unauthorized persons/vehicles, suspicious packages, or damage to property.
  • Greet visitors warmly and assist them in signing in on the EIO Board, issuing visitor badges, and escorting/directing them to their destination.
  • Ensure all security access control procedures are strictly adhered to, including issuing facility access badges to contractors and associates who forgot theirs.
  • Respond to incidents during shift, taking appropriate action, completing reports, and notifying relevant parties in a timely manner.
  • Maintain constant surveillance of building and security cameras.
  • Assist with building emergencies, such as evacuations and fire alarms, to ensure the safety of everyone.
  • Keep the reception area organized at all times.
  • Write detailed incident reports, noting any unusual activities and how issues were resolved, and contact relevant individuals (Facilities and Security Supervisor).
  • Monitor visitor movement and ensure all authorized personnel entering the building.
  • Promote good public relations through courteous, helpful, and professional interactions with PPMW employees and their guests.
  • Enforce building rules and policies.
  • Participate in company and site required orientation and training programs.
  • Conduct security, customer service, or support functions as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in security industry, law enforcement, military, and customer service desirable.
