Marine Operations Director

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Marine Operations to join our team at Royal Caribbean Group. As a key member of our Global Marine Operations team, you will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives that enhance the performance of our entire fleet and marine department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement forward-thinking, multi-year strategies that fuel growth and optimize cost management across marine operations.
- Take ownership of RCI's annual operating plan, ensuring it meets and exceeds our goals for operational excellence and efficiency.
- Spearhead initiatives, streamline processes, enhance performance, and continuously improve the fleet's success.
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver special projects that align initiatives across departments, ensuring seamless execution and impactful results.
- Oversee the RCI drydock schedule, working together with stakeholders to ensure the flawless execution of essential maintenance and upgrades.
- Manage KPIs across the GMO organization, turning insights into action to drive measurable results.
- Develop and implement action plans based on fleet performance, ensuring we're always one step ahead in solving challenges and maximizing opportunities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all onboard resource requirements, from cabins and logistics to funding, always ensuring smooth operations.
- Prioritize and oversee the $70M+ annual marine capital plan, ensuring alignment with the broader brand strategy while driving the highest return on investment.
- Partner with other GMO functions (Safety, Technical, Decarbonization, etc.) and across the organization (Newbuild, HR, and other departments) to deliver operational consistency and excellence.
- Oversee the management of the fleet's balanced scorecard and compensation processes, ensuring targets are met and the fleet's performance stays ahead of the curve.
- Lead strategic communications between marine operations and the fleet, ensuring clarity and alignment across the board.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality, finance, marketing, engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 10-12 years of experience in a senior business management role, ideally in the travel or leisure industry.
- Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams, with a track record of driving successful initiatives and managing complex projects.
- Able to see the big picture while diving into the details to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Deliver operational messages and insights into presentations that are clear, impactful, and visually engaging.
- Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles, with strong analytical skills to evaluate business results and drive profitability.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to influence and engage with stakeholders at all levels across global teams.
- Ability to think critically, identify root causes, and provide practical solutions in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
- Highly adaptable, taking initiative to solve problems and improve processes while thriving in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Knowledge of macroeconomic conditions and global trends, with an understanding of their impact on the cruise industry.
