Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate advocate to join our team as a Youth Homelessness Lived Experience Coordinator at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

About the Role

This role will focus on developing, recruiting, and establishing youth action boards at multiple levels across the state, serving as a vital link between system partners and youth experiencing homelessness. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by youth experiencing homelessness and a passion for supporting and empowering young people facing homelessness.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement youth action boards at multiple levels across the state;
  2. Recruit and engage youth to participate in the boards;
  3. Serve as a vital link between system partners and youth experiencing homelessness;
  4. Advocate for the needs of youth experiencing homelessness to inform and enhance Nebraska's youth homelessness service system;
  5. Work collaboratively in a team environment and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A Bachelor's degree;
  2. Previous experience participating in a YAB or other related Lived Experience Board/s;
  3. Passion for supporting and empowering young people facing homelessness;
  4. Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate personal experiences to influence positive change;
  5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build relationships with diverse stakeholders;
  6. Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and their application in supporting youth.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in advocacy or community organizing related to homelessness or social justice issues, knowledge of local resources and services available to homeless youth, and a Bachelor's Degree in a field closely related to work are highly desirable.
