Job Overview

Alpha Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Construction Manager to oversee long-term projects at Reagan National Airport. This role involves performing all aspects of construction management on behalf of the project owner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform construction management duties associated with facilities and civil construction projects.
  • Conduct construction inspections to observe construction on various projects, including runway construction, facility construction, and other airport elements.
  • Monitor contractors' activities and apply field testing and inspection procedures and equipment to ensure compliance with contracts, specifications, and engineering principles.
  • Communicate findings with managers, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Adhere to airport and contract safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management.
  • Experience with the inspection of civil or facilities construction.
  • Knowledge of MWAA construction standards and specifications.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience and ability to perform construction management duties.
  • Capacity to safely navigate a construction site.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work irregular or overnight hours as assigned.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to utilize laptops, mobile phones, and other devices.
  • Valid driver's license.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Certifications related to the inspection and testing of asphalt, concrete, soils, metals, striping, and other materials from governing bodies such as ACI, VDOT, AWS, NICET, or other governing bodies.

Physical Demands:

The incumbent in this position can expect to sit and use their hands to handle and feel for more than 1/3 of the day. They can expect to stand or walk for more than 2/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 2/3 of the day.

This position requires the ability to lift items up to 80 pounds on an infrequent basis.

The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. They should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors. Depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see from a distance are also necessary.
