The Role

We are looking for an Underwriting Professional I (Associate Underwriter) to join our Events & Attractions department in Fort Wayne, IN. This is a hybrid role that requires minimal travel.

You will review and evaluate insurance applications, including inspection reports, financial statements, loss data, MVR's, and other information needed to properly assess the degree of risk in relation to proposed coverage limits.

In addition to your technical skills, you will develop and maintain positive working relationships with underwriting professionals and production sources to attract and retain clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate insurance applications and related documents
  • Obtain all relevant information not included with the initial submission to ensure a thorough evaluation of the risk
  • Review, evaluate, and rate new/renewal business and recommend appropriate actions to attain premium rate and loss ratio objectives
  • Prepare quotations/proposals for presentation to potential clients
  • Approve coverages requested within specified underwriting authority or decline the risk in its entirety
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with underwriting professionals and production sources
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid Property and Casualty License, or must obtain within 90 days of hire
  • 1-3 years of insurance industry experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of industry experience
