Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at The University of Chicago Medicine. As a Radiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in performing diagnostic imaging studies, utilizing radiation protection principles, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review physician orders to ensure appropriateness of examinations.
  • Select exposure factors based on body part, pathology, patient age, and technical equipment characteristics.
  • Review images for proper positioning, technique, and identification.
  • Perform general diagnostic studies with efficiency and high standards of quality.
  • Prepare contrast media for administration to patients and assist physicians in GI/GU studies.
  • Interface with customers, patients, and medical staff in a friendly and professional manner.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related medical field or equivalent experience.
  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved program.
  • Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
  • Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in performing diagnostic imaging.
  • Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Good decision-making and judgment skills.
  • Maintain required continuing education as mandated by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
  • Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures along with knowledge of computers and software programs specific to UCMC and the radiology department.
  • CPR certification.

Position Details

  • Job Type/FTE: 0.1 FTE.
  • Shift: Registry, rotating.
  • Unit/Department: Imaging/X-Ray/Diagnostic (Adults or Pediatrics).
  • CBA Code: Non-Union.
  • No Visa Sponsorship Available.
  • Every other holiday.

Additional Requirements

Must comply with UCMC's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment. If you have already received the vaccination, you must provide proof as part of the pre-employment process. This is in addition to your compliance with the Flu Vaccination requirement as well. Medical and religious exemptions will be considered consistent with applicable law. Lastly, a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are also required for all employees prior to hire.
