Position Overview

At Werfenlife SA, our Supervisors play a crucial role in managing the daily operations of their designated teams. This role involves strategizing, organizing, and delegating work assignments for the production of our high-quality products, while ensuring adherence to productivity benchmarks, quality standards, and departmental goals. The Supervisor is also tasked with addressing operational challenges and suggesting enhancements to processes and the work environment. Daily collaboration with team members and other departments is essential to achieve our objectives and deliver exceptional products and services. Compliance with company policies and administrative requirements is a key responsibility, with all activities conducted in line with established operating procedures (SOPs) and quality regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties:

  • Oversees daily production tasks executed by the team, ensuring compliance with SOPs and quality system requirements, which may include:
    • Preparation of bulk solutions
    • Assessment of raw materials and finished products
    • Development and adherence to validation plans and protocols
    • Maintenance of accurate documentation for production and evaluation activities
    • Investigation and resolution of production issues
    • Setup, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment
    • Creation and implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for manufacturing documentation
  • Monitors production processes to identify and implement operational improvements for enhanced performance and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborates with team members to assign tasks, resolve queries, and ensure seamless daily operations.
  • Plans and oversees workflow to guarantee sufficient resources for meeting productivity and quality expectations.
  • Trains team members to ensure clarity of expectations and compliance with quality and administrative standards.
  • Ensures completion of all necessary documentation in accordance with quality regulations.
  • Investigates and implements corrective actions to enhance product performance and resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Responsible for drafting and updating SOPs and managing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for departmental documents.
  • Facilitates effective communication and collaboration with other departments to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Assists in staffing decisions to build a high-performing team, including recruitment, training, and development.
  • Manages departmental schedules to meet objectives, overseeing approvals for time off and overtime.
  • Conducts performance management activities, providing constructive feedback and development opportunities.
  • Maintains open communication within the department through regular meetings and updates.
  • Responsible for staff training to ensure competency and compliance with training requirements.
  • Educates and supervises staff to ensure adherence to applicable SOPs and regulatory standards.
  • Embodies company values and serves as a role model for staff and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a regulated laboratory environment, preferably in immunology or medical device manufacturing.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within life sciences is preferred.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong laboratory skills, including solution preparation and equipment operation.
  • Proficient in Quality Systems Regulations (QSR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) systems.
  • Ability to address practical problems and interpret various instructions.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is required; SAP experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in organizing and supervising effective operations and teams.
  • Ability to foster consensus and build relationships among peers and stakeholders.

Work Environment:

The physical demands of this role require effective communication, the ability to detect and inspect scientific data, and the capacity to stand or sit for extended periods. Employees may need to perform various physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 pounds. The work environment is typically moderate in noise level and requires varying levels of mobility.

Travel Requirements
  • Minimal travel, less than 5% of the time.
Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$110,000, with individual compensation determined by experience, skills, education, and organizational needs.
