Job Title: CNC Applications Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Applications Engineer to provide technical support for CNC machines and assist customers, sales teams, and at trade shows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform application engineering tasks under direct supervision, including conducting time studies, test cuts, and machine demonstrations based on customer requirements.
  • Participate in training programs provided by senior staff and external resources to enhance technical knowledge in CNC programming, part processing, and machine setup.
  • Prepare fixtures and workholding setups for demonstrations, test cuts, and turnkey projects, ensuring optimal results.
  • Conduct time estimates for customer parts processing and calculate optimal speeds and feeds for part machining.
  • Use CAPPS conversational programming, CAM systems, and G-Code/Macro programming to generate CNC programs, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Set up CNC machines with appropriate programs, tooling, workpieces, and fixtures, ensuring smooth operation.
  • Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Generate engineering reports and maintain technical documentation, providing valuable insights for future projects.
  • Communicate frequently with internal staff, customers, and suppliers, ensuring seamless collaboration and resolution of issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field) preferred; machining knowledge is beneficial.
  • 0-2 years of related experience, with a strong foundation in part processing, metal cutting, CNC programming, reading drawings, and machine setup.
  • Basic understanding of metallurgy and ability to communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Flexibility to handle shifting priorities and ability to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment: The CNC Applications Engineer will work in a manufacturing environment with potential hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, and heavy machinery. A general office environment is also experienced.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent travel, vehicle operation, standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting, with occasional use of power equipment and desk work involving computers.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 50 lbs.
