About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineering Lead to join our team at Crisis Text Line. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for shaping our data strategy and driving the development of scalable data models.

Our mission is to promote mental well-being for people worldwide by providing free, 24/7, high-quality text-based mental health support and crisis intervention. We aim to make crisis support available globally, and our technology powers both our US operations and those of our international partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and build performant, scalable data models in our data warehouse
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver the right solution, from one-time reporting to regularly updated dashboards
  • Work with Design, Product, and Engineering teams to use data to tell the story of how we're scaling access to mental health support across the globe
  • Partner with Platform and Data Engineering teams to create scalable integrations for bringing data into our data lake
  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences using written and verbal communication, and visualizations when appropriate
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience managing Data Engineering or related teams
  • Strong knowledge of NLP techniques and commonly used AI/ML models
  • 4+ years of querying and modeling data using SQL
  • 2+ years of experience using Python for data analysis/data science (matplotlib, numpy, pandas)
  • Familiarity with distributed computing systems such as Spark (Scala, Pyspark)
  • Ability to influence strategy and align stakeholders to evolve data use based on research, data, and industry trends
