About the Role

MedStar Health is seeking a highly skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our team at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center. As an Exercise Physiologist, you will play a critical role in the assessment, direction, and supervision of participants in our Cardiopulmonary Rehab Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Develop and implement individualized exercise plans for participants in the Cardiopulmonary Rehab Program.
    • Conduct thorough assessments of participants' medical history, current physical status, and baseline functional capacity.
    • Evaluate participants' progress and adjust exercise plans as needed to ensure safe and effective rehabilitation.
  • Patient Education and Support
    • Provide education and instruction to patients, family members, and staff on proper exercise techniques and equipment use.
    • Develop and provide in-services to hospital staff and community members on cardiac and pulmonary disease prevention and management.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to establish and implement plans of care for participants.
    • Communicate effectively with participants, family members, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Professional Development
    • Maintain current knowledge and certification in exercise physiology and cardiac life support.
    • Participate in continuing education programs and hospital-sponsored training to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Master's degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.
  • 3-4 years of clinical exercise physiology experience preferred.
  • ACSM Exercise Specialist or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) certification preferred.
