About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pool Instructor to join our team at the Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District. As a Pool Instructor, you will be responsible for planning and teaching swimming lessons to students of all ages and skill levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach swimming lessons to students of all ages and skill levels
  • Familiarize yourself with our facility's Emergency Action Plans and respond appropriately in emergency situations
  • Teach and modify swimming skills to various levels of students
  • Provide oral and written feedback to students and their parents or guardians
  • Maintain close supervision and maximize safety of students at all times
  • Keep accurate records on student progress and submit completed records as required
  • Organize class areas and teaching aids, and clean up after lessons
  • Attend in-service training sessions as needed and maintain up-to-date certifications
  • Mentor and work collaboratively with other instructors
  • Be available for varying hours depending on the pool schedule, which may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Requirements

  • Minimum age: 16 years old
  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
  • CPR/AED Certification
  • YMCA Swim instructor accepted
