Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team at Petco's Vetco Total Care full-service hospital in Long Beach or San Pedro. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in providing excellent veterinary care to our patients and phenomenal customer service to their owners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and patients, escort them to exam rooms, obtain vital signs, and document patient information in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia procedures under direct supervision.
  • Perform patient restraint, process laboratory samples, handle medications, and maintain electronic medical records.
  • Schedule appointments, communicate with clients, relay test results, update inventory, and manage accounts receivable.
  • Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, monitor anesthetized patients, and provide post-operative care.
  • Provide in-hospital treatments, keep patients clean and comfortable, and safely walk canine patients when necessary.
  • Participate in staff training and knowledge dissemination as required.

Requirements

  • College education or equivalent in becoming a credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state of California.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassionate and sympathetic demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
  • Telephone and computer skills.
  • Team player willing to learn new techniques, offer creative ideas, and accept change.

Salary Information

The estimated annual salary for this position is $42,400 - $67,200, depending on experience and location. This range may be adjusted based on regulatory minimum wage requirements.
