About the Role

At Sargent & Lundy, we are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Plant Designer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned designer with expertise in mechanical plant design and engineering to lead our mechanical design team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development of mechanical plant design drawings, including piping, pipe supports, and equipment layout, utilizing industry-standard software such as SmartPlant S3D.

We offer a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • To lead the mechanical design team in the development of integrated mechanical design models for complex industrial projects.
  • To utilize Hexagons SmartPlant S3D modeling software to generate mechanical design deliverables, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and commodity lists.
  • To collaborate with project teams to ensure complete and timely delivery of mechanical designs.
  • To resolve clashes and discrepancies in 3D models and report status.
  • To provide guidance to junior designers and project team members to ensure high-quality designs.
  • To stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in mechanical plant design and engineering.
Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of experience in detailed design of mechanical plant design drawings.
  • Proficiency with design software tools, including SmartPlant S3D, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of piping and instrumentation diagrams developed using SPID.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
