We are seeking an experienced Orthopedic Surgeon to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing basic orthopedic procedures, including arthroscopies, total hip and total knee arthroplasties, and carpal tunnel procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Perform basic orthopedic procedures, including arthroscopies, total hip and total knee arthroplasties, and carpal tunnel procedures.
- Evaluate and treat patients with orthopedic disorders.
- See patients in consultation in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Respond to patient telephone calls, inform patients of test/lab results, renew medication prescriptions, and provide telephone or e-mail advice to other providers.
- Enter accurate, complete, and timely progress notes for each episode of care in the patient's electronic record.
- Use and maintain specialized equipment used in the assessment and care of patients.
- Adhere to safety, health, and infection control standards, regulations, and work practices.
- Participate in performance improvement activities, disaster preparedness, and other responsibilities assigned by the Associate Chief of Staff, Surgical Care ICC.
- United States Citizenship.
- Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an institution accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
