Quality Assurance Manager Role for Japanese Food Manufacturing

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our team in the vegetable/produce manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance and management, with a focus on food safety and quality control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate food safety & quality issues to appropriate parties for corrective action
  • Manage an in-house microbiological testing laboratory and lab staff
  • Oversee QA document and record keeping, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper storage
  • Perform and monitor quality control testing/sampling of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products
  • Test packaging to ensure maximum shelf life
  • Implement a comprehensive food safety program in the plant and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Serve as primary contact for all quality and food safety audits and inspections
  • Monitor quality audit program for the production facility to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Serve as primary contact for customer complaints
  • Manage and monitor all quality training, including HACCP, GMP, and food/work safety standards
  • Participate in mock recalls throughout the year
  • Collaborate with the management team to identify and resolve problems, recommending measures to improve product quality and quality systems
  • Lead the supplier approval program
  • Manage quality and food safety incidents by investigating production issues and initiating corrective action

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Microbiology or related field, or 6-9 years combined experience in food or ingredients manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of food manufacturing and QA procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of food processing equipment, preferably in a RTE facility
  • HACCP certification
  • Preventive Control Qualified Individual (FSMA) certification
  • Proficiency in computer programs, such as MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Spanish language skill preferred
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Self-driven and results-oriented, with ability to work independently and under deadlines
  • Familiarity with Critical Control Points (CCPs), SOPs, and quality standards

Estimated Salary Range: $85,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
