Job Title: Engineering Technician 5
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician 5 to join our team at the Louisiana Department of State Civil Service. As an Engineering Technician 5, you will be responsible for performing complex sub-professional engineering tasks, including bridge design and construction, and providing technical guidance to subordinate technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex sub-professional engineering tasks, including bridge design and construction
- Provide technical guidance to subordinate technicians
- Coordinate the production of a complete set of contract drawings
- Use a wide variety of computer software to prepare, analyze, and document designs, reports, and cost estimates
- Act as lead worker on complex engineering projects
- Resolve pavement and bridge management systems data collection technical problems
- Collect and analyze data to upgrade the statewide automated testing system
- Prepare special case traffic forecasts for proposed new routes
Requirements:
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus three years of sub-professional engineering experience
- College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience
- Full-time training in sub-professional engineering from a trade school or technical institute will substitute for the required experience on a month-for-month basis for a maximum of one year of experience
- A baccalaureate degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology will substitute for all of the required experience
Working Conditions: This position will be located in a state agency and will require working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines. The successful candidate will be required to work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals.
