We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Open Systems Healthcare.

About the Role:

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide vital support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them lead safe, nurturing lives in their homes, workplaces, communities, and daily routines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Quality In-Home Support: Ensure the delivery of high-quality and safe in-home support, meeting the unique needs and goals of each individual.
  • Day Supports and Behavior Services: Provide individualized day supports, small group day habilitation, and behavior support services that align with OSH's policy and procedures.
  • Implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs): Work closely with individuals, their families, and support teams to develop and implement effective ISP and Plan of Care.
  • Foster Positive Relationships: Develop and maintain positive, cooperative relationships with clients, their families, and support team members.
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living: Assist individuals with personal care, transportation, household care, companionship, and other activities as needed, according to their ISP and level of need.
  • Skill Development and Crisis Management: Help individuals acquire and/or maintain skills to achieve their ISP goals through increasing independence, self-advocacy, exploration, and integration into their community. Handle situations involving challenging behavior with care and professionalism, being available to address crisis situations that arise.
  • Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, including progress notes, behavioral observations, and other required documentation, in a timely manner. Communicate relevant information with OSH confidentially and promptly.

Requirements:

  • Age and Education: Minimum age of 18 years or older, proof of High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education from a foreign country.
  • Certifications and Training: Active CPR and First Aid certification, successful completion of orientation and DSP training program, and relevant competency-based training, passing with a score of 80% or greater.
  • Communication and Transportation: Ability to communicate effectively in English through reading, writing, and speaking, with reasonable accommodations as needed. Must have a reliable form of transportation.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Work Experience and Education: One year of related work experience or education in the Human or Social Services field, advocacy for and experience or education working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is strongly preferred.
  • Transportation and Community Familiarity: Familiarity with Washington, DC's public transportation system and community resources and opportunities.
  • Interpersonal and Time Management Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, efficiently manage time and multiple tasks daily.

Benefits:

Salary: The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
