Job Summary:

The Regional Center of the East Bay is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to assess their functional status, evaluate their home and work environments, and provide recommendations for accommodations and modifications to promote independence and participation in daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate individuals' functional status, including muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self-care ability, and work capacity.
  • Evaluate home and work environments for hazards or barriers to more independent living.
  • Complete documentation for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) funded by other entities, including Letters of Medical Necessity and OT notes.
  • Advocate and coordinate with private health insurance, Medicare, Medi-Cal, California Children's Services (CCS), and other entities to ensure required funding is in place.
  • Provide consultation to Case Managers, individuals served by RCEB, and caregivers to make recommendations related to OT needs.
  • Maintain awareness of existing OT services and therapy resources, and educate and collaborate with community OTs to develop relevant resources and services.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy, Licensure from the Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • Two years of experience working with individuals who have Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
  • Familiarity with DME resources in the East Bay.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team as well as independently with general supervision.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Automobile and valid driver's license required.
  • Must be computer knowledgeable.
  • Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity and an ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations.
