Job Summary

UC Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer - Public Safety to join our team. As a key member of our Public Safety department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and associates.

Responsibilities

  1. Patrol our facilities and grounds to prevent and respond to security incidents, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all.
  2. Investigate and document all reports of criminal or unusual activity, crisis incidents, and policy violations, following up as necessary.
  3. Conduct inspections and document potential and real security, health, and safety hazards, and submit work requests as needed.
  4. Enforce UC Health policies, procedures, and regulations, and assist in enforcing all Federal, State, and Local laws as indicated in the Ohio Revised Code.
  5. Perform safety checks throughout our facilities and grounds, and maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.
  6. Additional duties may include locking/unlocking doors and gates, handling lost and found property, motorist assists, medical assists, package/mail delivery, and helicopter landing safety.

Qualifications

Education: Associate degree in criminal justice or security management, preferred. Graduation from Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) or other state-certified training academy as a security or police officer, preferred.

License and Certification: Obtain the IAHSS security officer certification within 12 months of employment.

Years of Experience: Two years of experience in law enforcement/public safety/security/military police, minimum required. Willing to certify, license, or graduate within 12 months, IAHSS certified, preferred.

Required Skills and Knowledge: Basic police training preferred, experience with multiple computer programs such as Microsoft Office required.

Work Environment: The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to consider the attributes, special needs, and behaviors of our diverse patient and associate population, and to demonstrate the competencies that address their unique characteristics.
