Job Title: Part-Time EMT - Emergency Response Specialist

Salary: $15.50-$21 per hour (DOQ)

About the Role:

We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to fill a part-time EMT position with the City of Burlington Fire Department. The selected candidates will provide Fire and EMS services to the community, working closely with our team to ensure top-notch emergency response.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to emergency calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS) treatment as needed.
  • Document incident data, patient assessment, and treatment for accurate records.
  • Operate radios and other communication equipment to facilitate effective team collaboration.
  • Maintain equipment, vehicles, apparatus, facilities, and grounds to ensure optimal performance.
  • Promote public education and safety through presentations and classes.
  • Assist in special assignments such as emergency preparedness, hazardous communications, training programs, and more.
Requirements:
  • Age 18 or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Wisconsin State driver's license and satisfactory driving record necessary.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Meet insurability requirements of the City's insurance carrier.
  • Fluent English language skills (reading, writing, speaking).
  • EMT Basic certification from the state of Wisconsin.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • EMS License at or above Advanced-EMT (Wisconsin).
  • Wisconsin State Certified Firefighter I or higher.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of emergency medical techniques, rescue methods, and computer software.
  • Ability to apply standard emergency medical techniques, follow instructions, and handle physically demanding tasks under stress.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with department directives, safety rules, and procedures.
Work Schedule:

Part-time EMTs work on an as-needed basis, with schedules ranging from 12 to 24 hour shifts. They may be requested to assist with training setup, equipment issues, or fill in for uncovered shifts outside regular meetings and training sessions.
