Medical Oncology Nurse Specialist

About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Registered Nurse, where you will be responsible for assessing patient condition, administering chemo, immunotherapy, and non-oncology infusions, and communicating with a multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain adequate stock of supplies as required for work area and ensure a safe and secure environment to meet patient needs.
- Facilitate patient scheduling for all tests and visits and complete billing of all nursing procedures, including any infusion therapy.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during physical exams and medical procedures, prepare patients for physician exams, and chaperone physician visits.
- Administer medications as prescribed by physician, take and record patient vital signs using medical equipment, inspect equipment and facilities visually and physically to ensure patient safety and proper functioning of equipment, and obtain any specimens ordered by the physician for collection.
- Obtain medical history from patients through structured interviews in accordance with departmental guidelines, document nursing assessment, and document patient care interventions and education in medical records.
- Triage patient phone inquiries according to physician and/or departmental protocols and document such inquiries and results in patients' medical records.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A graduate degree from an approved/accredited nursing program, either by a governmental authority, nursing board, or by a licensing authority that has jurisdiction over approval/accreditation of nursing programs (Texas BON 217.1).
- A current Texas (or BNE Compact State) nursing license.
- A minimum of one year RN experience.
- A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
The estimated annual salary for this position is around $85,000-$110,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
