Respiratory Care Lead Therapist

Summary:
The Lead Therapist RRT is responsible for the care of assigned patients and directs others to ensure patient care is based on patient needs, values, and choices.
The Lead Therapist is expected to practice autonomously within the scope of professional standards, rules, and regulations established by the Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care and knowledge of policies and procedures within Ballad Health.
He/she demonstrates skill in developing and guiding collaborative collegial practice that delivers safe competent care based on meticulous application of the standards of respiratory care.
The position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidence-based respiratory practice and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of respiratory care process.
He/she actively participates in patient care quality and performance improvement through data collection, aggregation, and analysis of relevant key indicators of quality (KIQ's).
This commitment to quality results in the development and implementation of action plans to include the monitoring of the effectiveness of improvements.
Responsible for the respiratory care of patients assigned to him/her. The Lead Therapist may be required to function with in staffing as much as 95% of the time as needed.
Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care:
Provide respiratory care to patients assigned to him/her.
2. Leadership:
Assist with patient assignments and coordinate respiratory care throughout the hospital.
Provide direction and support for respiratory staff.
Serve as a role model for clinical and ethical practice on the zone.
3. Education and Implementation:
Assist with education and implementation of patient care initiatives.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Graduate of AMA approved program for Respiratory Care.
Must have a minimum of two years of hospital-based clinical experience.
Must have strong clinical background in adult, pediatric, and neonatal Critical Care.
Preferred Requirements:
Critical Care and neonatal experience.
Meets competency requirements for all patient areas.
Excellent leadership skills as demonstrated by proven record of achievement.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid and active licensure in appropriate state with blood gas endorsement.
Valid and active registration by NBRCCPR required.
ACLS, PALS, NRP required dependent upon area assigned.
