Job OverviewAt Kodama Systems, we're seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Field Engineer. This role involves assisting with the development, testing, and implementation of our machinery, with a focus on improving forest thinning operations and utilizing waste biomass to prevent catastrophic wildfires.Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Kodama's electrical system, including lidar, GPS, cameras, and e-stop
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and robotics problems with heavy equipment
  • Collaborate with the Ops team to repair sensors, cameras, and hard-wired system controls
  • Calibrate sensors and encoders
  • Install hardware and manage cable routing
  • Test sensor placement and prototype new hardware
  • Work with the Engineering team on technology modifications and project management
Operations Duties
  • Perform daily checks and maintenance of project equipment
  • Utilize company vehicles and tools, including pick-up trucks, radios, saws, and drills
  • Participate in manual and remote-controlled machine operations
  • Assist with in-forest activities, such as scouting, spotting, and surveying
  • Follow company safety protocols during testing and project implementation
Requirements
  • 4 years of education and/or working experience
  • Strong mechanical design skills, including CAD in SolidWorks
  • General electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems knowledge
  • Sheet metal design experience
  • Camera and lidar calibration skills
  • Soldering, crimping, drilling, and tapping abilities
Bonus Requirements
  • Linux and command line experience
  • Ethernet networking knowledge
  • Robot Operating System (ROS), Gazebo, and Bazel skills
  • First Aid / CPR / first responder certifications
  • Ability to speak Spanish
  • Willingness to travel and/or relocate outside of Tuolumne County
