Youth Development Associate

Friends of Youth is seeking a dedicated Youth Development Associate to join our team. This role plays a vital part in creating a safe and supportive environment for young adults experiencing homelessness.
About the RoleWe are looking for someone who can work independently and as part of a team to provide direct services to young adults, ensuring they receive the support and resources needed to succeed.
Responsibilities- Direct Service Tasks:
- Provide a safe, caring, and non-judgmental environment for all young adults accessing services.
- Ensure adherence to Shelter Services' rules, policies, and procedures.
- Check in young adults during scheduled times and conduct searches of their belongings at check-in time.
- Initiate intake and ensure completion for any young adult admitted during the shift.
- Refer guests to appropriate resources such as case management, education, employment, housing, mental health, and substance use services.
- Check in with guests regarding goal progress and completion.
- Monitor laundry and shower use.
- Assist with conflict prevention and de-escalation to ensure a safe environment.
- Report severe and/or extraordinary changes in a guest's behavior or situation to a manager.
- Respond promptly to program-related emails.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to foster a healthy team environment.
- Partner with guests to develop life skills workshops and daily activities.
- Assist with serving and cleaning up after meals.
- Ensure doors and other facility aspects are secured at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Maintain prescribed medications and checked-in items in a secure area.
- Facilitate walk-through and safety checks in internal and external areas.
- Adhere to laundry procedures during each shift.
- Complete cleaning responsibilities during each shift.
- Maintain daily records of guests in Salesforce.
- Keep accurate record-keeping in guests' files.
- Model positive and healthy behaviors.
- Record and complete guests' exits that occur during the shift.
- Ensure copies of necessary file forms are stocked.
- Complete WATCH background checks for new and returning guests.
- Assist with file collection and data for monthly and quarterly reviews.
- Participate in individual supervision, case consultation meetings, and team meetings.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience, providing direct services to young adults.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is encouraged.
- Demonstrated knowledge of MS365 Power Platform.
