Housekeeping Assistant

Clean and Maintain Our Facilities

We are seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to join our team at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. As a member of our facilities team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our buildings and grounds.

• 
  
• Clean offices, hallways, restrooms, elevators, stairways, shops, and other work areas
  
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors
  
• Wash windows, door panels, and sills
  
• May clean rugs, carpets, furniture, and draperies as required
  
• Perform grounds keeping duties such as litter control, sweeping sidewalks, and trash collection
  
• May be required to secure gates, sound alarms, or call for assistance in case of an emergency
  
• Report any unusual or suspicious activities to supervisory staff
  
• Examine doors and windows to ensure they are secure
  
• Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked

• Ability to carry equipment and tools, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and operate a variety of tools and equipment
  
• Ability to operate a vehicle to travel to on-site work areas
  
• Specific vision abilities include the ability to read labels and determine the identity and use of various chemicals, cleaners, and solvents
  
• One month of relevant experience and/or training
  
• PC experience includes e-mail, word processing, and data entry
