Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Produce Department Assistant Manager to join our team at Restaurant Depot. As a key member of our produce department, you will be responsible for ensuring that our aisles, freezers, and refrigerators are stocked, labeled, and clean. You will also be responsible for receiving product, packing out delivered product, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure proper customer service and develop relationships with large customers.

• Supervise all activities in the produce department, including product placement, rotation, signage, and displays.

• Maintain the overall appearance, cleanliness, and adherence to government and corporate ordinances.

• Maintain records as required.

• Supervise and work together with Produce Supervisors and Stockers to ensure the produce department operates in accordance with company standards.

• Develop schedules, monitor performance, and recommend discipline as necessary.

• Train employees in job responsibilities and safe operating procedures.

• Assist with candidate interviews and recommend hires.

• Discipline employees when necessary and recommend terminations.

• Ensure employees perform proper inspections to meet HACCP regulations and conduct periodic HACCP audits.

• Review inventory for product rotation on a daily basis to prevent shrinkage and damages.

• Ensure shelf pricing is correct and reflects the most recent pricing and market conditions.

• Supervise the receiving of all produce and ensure proper paperwork is completed.

• Maintain accurate computer inventory levels by performing physical inventories and making adjustments.

• Maintain refrigerated equipment and ensure maintenance contracts and schedules are followed.

• Supervise the ordering of produce from vendors to ensure competitive pricing and minimal shrink due to spoilage.

• Ensure employees can operate equipment such as the Toledo scale and Dennison label machine.

• Coordinate the proper block and date tags on pallets stored in racks.

• Follow a regular maintenance schedule to maintain the cleanliness of the area.

• Ensure excess inventory is stacked in overhead racks in close proximity to where it is sold or stored in freezers/refrigerators.

• Ensure trash is removed from the floor and properly handled.

• Communicate low stock/out of stock information to the Inventory Controller.

• Maintain correct signage and ensure flyer prices are reflected on products.

• Coordinate proper merchandising of aisles and creatively merchandise and set up impulse areas.

Requirements:

• Must pass a drug screen (cannabis included).

• Can lift 50 lbs.

• Must be at least 18+ years old.

• Knowledge of HACCP systems is desirable.

• Prior experience in the produce department, including ordering and receiving products.

• Creative merchandising skills.

• Ability to work in a refrigerated environment (30 degrees) for extended periods.

• At least 4 years of experience in customer service.
