Embalmers Educator

Job Summary:

A professional educator position is available at San Antonio College for a full-time member of the faculty who will be responsible for providing quality education to students in Mortuary Science. The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a subject area within the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE) curriculum, or a bachelor's degree in Mortuary Science. A master's degree in discipline must be obtained within five years of initial appointment. Proof of graduation from a college-based ABFSE accredited program and currently licensed by the Texas Funeral Service Commission (TFSC) as both a funeral director and embalmer, or meet the TFSC's requirements for immediate reciprocation of both licenses are also required.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of continuous full-time employment within the funeral industry and regular embalming and preparation room experience within this time. Post-secondary teaching experience and a valid Texas driver license with insurability through the organization's insurers are highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Fulfill the institution's mission, vision, values, strategic plan, Board of Trustees' charges and educational philosophy.
• Provide quality education to students in Mortuary Science.
• Teach post-secondary courses and participate in departmental activities.
• Maintain current knowledge and skills in the field of mortuary science.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a subject area within the ABFSE curriculum or a bachelor's degree in Mortuary Science.
• Master's degree in discipline to be obtained within five years of initial appointment.
