About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Bed Management Specialist to join our team at Henry Ford Macomb - Oakland Hospitals. In this critical role, you will be responsible for coordinating a centralized bed management system to facilitate efficient admissions and transfers, optimize occupancy, and avoid delays in service.

Responsibilities
  1. Communicate with clinical staff to determine the status of pending discharges, transfers, and bed availability, and plan bed assignments accordingly.
  2. Review all admissions and transfers for clinical/unit appropriateness and medical necessity, taking appropriate action when criteria are not met or resources are not available.
  3. Provide direction and support to admissions coordinators to ensure efficient patient access and flow.
  4. Analyze bed management data, identify issues and potential resolutions, and prepare reports for executive review.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A current license to practice in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association).
  • TWO YEARS OF PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH BED MANAGEMENT/COORDINATION.
  • Experience with EMR Systems, preferably Cerner.
