Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone and radio
  • Dispatch resources to emergency situations
  • Provide lifesaving medical assistance to callers
  • Maintain strict radio discipline at all times
  • Operate the Computer Aided Dispatch system
  • Provide essential information and support to field units
  • Disseminate motor vehicle, driver's license, and criminal record information
  • Make referrals to appropriate County Departments and outside agencies

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior experience in public safety or customer service preferred
  • Ability to work under highly stressful circumstances
  • Ability to function in a sustained stress environment
  • Ability to prioritize incoming and outgoing information
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff
