Job Summary

At Dermatology Skin and Cancer Institute, we are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring the safe and effective administration of radiation therapy treatments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver radiation therapy treatments to patients according to written prescriptions and treatment plans.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Refer medical questions to appropriate personnel and provide safety in patient care through consistent practice of department protocols and policies.
  • Recognize deviations from prescribed treatment delivery and report them to the Operations Manager.
  • Respond effectively to patient concerns and observe patients for expected and unexpected reactions to treatments.
  • Reinforce patient education and side-effect management information, indicating non-compliance to medical and nursing staff.
  • Assure the quality of treatment delivery through complete and accurate documentation of treatment records.
  • Display a thorough understanding of radiation oncology billing and coding, reviewing treatment and simulation documentation and billing on a daily basis for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly patient treatment room, assessing potential problems or difficulties with set-ups and checking safety controls and devices daily.
  • Perform warm-up and calibration checks of equipment as necessary and ensure the correct administration of all radiation therapy processes and procedures.
  • Ensure all administration and documentation requirements are initiated and completed in a professional and timely manner, maintaining confidentiality on all issues.
  • Demonstrate the ability to participate as an active and effective member of a team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Post-high school vocational/specialized training in an accredited Radiation Therapy Education Program.
