About the Department:

Formerly known as George Mason University's Arlington Campus, Mason Square is expanding on existing university resources to create the complete ecosystem necessary to inspire new knowledge, convert it to marketable goods and services, train the workforce to support it, and help incubate the businesses to scale it.

About the Position:

The Office Support Specialist will contribute to Mason Square by delivering administrative assistance, which includes event coordination and various office responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aids in updating the Plaza website on WordPress: Incorporating special events (event flyers and details); Refreshing weekly events/Plaza amenities postings (images and information);
  • Captures images of the Plaza and Plaza events using the office camera;
  • Utilizes Canva to design flyers, promotional materials, and items for events;
  • Promotes events around campus and to local businesses through physical and electronic flyers and information;
  • Assists in event planning, organization, setup, execution, cleanup, and data collection;
  • Supports Plaza events as needed;
  • Manages the office phone, welcoming and assisting visitors, and overseeing office inventory;
  • Maintains the office coffee station;
  • Performs data entry tasks such as updating Excel sheets and submitting events into various calendars and outlets; and
  • Researches and contacts potential business partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, organization, problem-solving, and time management;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; and
  • Proficiency in using computer software including Canva, WordPress, Microsoft Office, and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College degree or equivalent;
  • Previous experience in customer service or event coordination preferred;
  • Experience in photography; and
  • Previous experience in marketing or a related field preferred.
