Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly qualified Diesel Marine Technology Adjunct Faculty Member to join our team. As an adjunct faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching courses in diesel marine technology to students with a wide range of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and deliver instruction in diesel marine technology courses, utilizing a variety of teaching strategies to engage students and promote student learning.
  • Develop and implement assessments to measure student learning, including at least one assessment within the first 15% of the course.
  • Provide students with prompt and meaningful feedback on course activities and assignments, communicating with students in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Hold at least one office hour per week for each credit hour assigned.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum and instructional materials.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in diesel marine technology or a related field.
  • Two years of related work experience in diesel marine technology.
  • Certification and documented work experience and training in areas such as small and large outboard gasoline engines, inboard engine systems, stern drives, marine electrical systems, and marine maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in an electronic format.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience at the college level.
  • Knowledge of CANVAS or other learning management systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience with proven teaching strategies that promote student success.
  • Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
