Job Description

**Job Summary:**

The Health Services Director is responsible for the delivery of health services to residents at Clatsop Care Retirement Village. This role requires a Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in extended care facilities or assisted living facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement health services policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and evaluate health services staff, including medication aides and team leaders.
  • Coordinate and facilitate educational programs for staff and residents.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including licensure and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with the facility administrator and other department directors to promote infection control, fire safety, and quality assurance.
  • Participate in the hiring, coaching, disciplining, and termination of team leaders.
  • Review and implement pharmacy recommendations, including quarterly recaps and medication delivery systems.
  • Coordinate and facilitate a quality assurance program for resident health care services.
  • Participate in committee meetings as assigned by the administrator.
  • Provide Hepatitis B shots to staff and monitor for TB and other health conditions as necessary.
  • Coordinate with other entities when a resident is out of facility for health reasons.
  • Coordinate and schedule physician's appointments for residents with acute conditions or changes in conditions.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited program of nursing education.
  • Current registration in this state.
  • One year experience in an extended care facility or assisted living facility.
  • Good mental and physical health, sound judgment, and high moral standards.
  • Ability to manage and supervise employees.
  • Interest and ability in teaching others and assisting them in their skills.
  • Capacity to develop and learn new theories, techniques, and principles and implement them.
  • Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Willingness to attend workshops and institutes in the field of Geriatrics.

Work Environment:

The work environment is usually moderate, with occasional exposure to blood/body fluids.
