Clinical Support Specialist

Job Summary
Effingham Health System is seeking a skilled Clinical Support Professional to join our team. The successful candidate will provide direct and indirect patient care in an office setting, assisting in various clinical areas to meet fluctuating staffing needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and transport patients to the exam room, preparing the room and patient for examination
- Take vital signs and record vitals in the chart
- Assist Providers with patient care and treatment
- Obtain specimens via phlebotomy process and urine specimens by policy/procedure
- Administer medications according to established policies and procedures
- Store, handle, and transfer vaccines correctly in accordance with facility policy/procedure and state, federal, and governing regulations
- Administer treatments according to established policies and procedures
- Participate in patient education involving the patient's family when appropriate
- Complete the nursing portion of the patient charts in an organized, neat, complete, and accurate manner
- Identify physical symptoms and physical changes and report to the Physician
- Observe and respond to behavioral and physiological changes due to medications
- Perform pre-certifications for services requiring authorizations
- Prepare patients for ordered procedures: lab, X-ray, surgery, treatment, etc., and complete forms or ordered procedures
- Administer IV fluids according to center policy
- Return calls to patients
- Call in prescriptions for patients as required
- Review home care with patients
- Communicate with other agencies, physicians, facilities, and pharmacies when appropriate and as directed by the Physician
- Ensure adherence to proper infection control, OSHA, and safety standards
Requirements
- Minimum Level of Education: Education level equivalent to high school completion and completion of Licensed Practical Nurse Training course or Registered Nurse
- Formal Training: Management skills with experience in planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, interviewing, counseling, and verbal and written communications
- Licensure, Certification, Registration: Must have and maintain an unencumbered current Georgia Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license, or Medical Assistant Certification, and Basic Life Support CPR certification
- Work Experience: Six months to one year related experience and/or training
Work Environment
The Clinical Support Professional will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, requiring self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role.
