Special Education Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our team at Safford Unified School District. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting our students with special needs, providing assistance to teachers, and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in instructing small groups of students, providing individualized support and guidance.
- Monitor student behavior, provide positive reinforcement, and maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment.
- Escort students throughout the school day, supervise during lunch and recess, and ensure their safety and well-being.
- Assist with daily living skills, such as student hygiene, toileting, feeding, and wheelchair transfer.
- Administer achievement tests, including standardized tests, with proper training and supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, including routine clerical work and preparing instructional materials.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, and an Associate's degree or higher, or 60 or more credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Passing score on one of the ADE-approved online assessments (Parapro, ACT Workkeys, or The Master Teacher Para Educator PD Now).
