Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Network Operations and Engineering Manager. This role is crucial for overseeing both physical and logical engineering outputs. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with established standards, product sets, templates, systems, and artifacts, which are vital for achieving effective results. This position will involve direct interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, including architecture and engineering teams, deployment and product/service management, operations, vendors, consultants, and contractors. Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills are essential. The Network Manager is expected to be a strategic thinker, capable of articulating the organization's vision and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • A minimum of seven (7) to nine (9) years of experience in data center operations or network design and administration, including prior supervisory roles.
  • Proven experience managing a complex network environment at a large scale.
  • Experience overseeing a significant user base of over 5000 employees.
  • Proficient in designing and developing technology architecture roadmaps, maintaining existing roadmaps, and presenting updates to senior management.
  • Demonstrated success in managing operational and capital budgets.
  • Lead and mentor a team of highly skilled Network Engineers through training, one-on-one meetings, and professional development initiatives.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analyses for in-house communication systems versus external carriers.
  • Evaluate the installation of new and upgraded systems.
  • Supervise the installation and maintenance of communication networks.
  • Experience in vendor management and contract negotiations.
  • Develop long-term plans for communication systems.
  • Apply principles and operational policies to resolve complex telecommunications and data network challenges.
  • Communicate project statuses to senior management effectively.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Prior supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead staff, providing direction for their professional growth.
  • Strong skills in developing long-term plans and budgets for network infrastructure.
  • A solid track record of performance in dynamic environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of network design principles, including major protocols, topology design, and device configuration.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, and PowerShell.
  • In-depth understanding of ITIL principles and experience in major IT project design and deployment.
  • Familiarity with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies.
  • Experience with various equipment manufacturers, including CISCO, Juniper, and HP/Aruba.
  • Automation skills, including Expect, Rancid, and REST/SOAP.
  • Maintain an inventory of network assets, including support and licenses, and develop lifecycle management processes.
  • Ensure role-based access compliance on all network devices.
  • Enforce multi-factor authentication and audit logging on network assets.
  • Collaborate with Cyber Security on initiatives to secure network infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent with eleven (11) years of relevant experience, or a 2-Year College Degree with nine (9) years of experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with seven (7) years of experience, or a Master's Degree with five (5) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job duties effectively.
