Legal Advocacy Professional

SafePlace, a leading organization in providing services to survivors of sexual and domestic violence, is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Legal Advocacy Professional to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal advocacy services to our emergency shelter residents, legal clinic attendees, and court clients, ensuring they receive the support and resources they need to navigate the complex legal system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advocacy services, including accompaniment during legal proceedings, assistance with gathering information connected to immigration, and support with anti-harassment, sexual assault, and domestic violence protection orders.
- Maintain accurate statistics on clients and enter them into InfoNet.
- Develop and maintain culturally appropriate legal resources.
- Organize and attend bi-monthly legal clinics, as needed.
- Be available for on-call shifts, including Sexual Assault Response.
- Collaborate with the Community Services Advocate to provide support during walk-ins at the Community Services Building and the 24-hour help line.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year's experience in crisis intervention and/or sexual and domestic violence advocacy.
- Demonstrated understanding of sexual and domestic violence issues and legal protections.
- Working knowledge of the court system, law enforcement systems, and legal procedures.
- Basic computer skills, including word processing, and knowledge of the Internet and email.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Completion of the initial SafePlace ACT training.
