Purchasing Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Specialist to join our team at Sterling Foods. As a key member of our procurement department, you will be responsible for facilitating the procurement of supplies and goods while reducing unnecessary expenses to increase profit margin.

The ideal candidate will have excellent negotiation and follow-up skills, expertise with ERP/MRP inventory management systems, and the ability to multi-task and work independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase Order Management: Prepare and process purchase orders after analyzing MRP projections, past/forecast usage, and ensure accurate information.
  • Vendor Management: Maintain effective working relationships with internal/external customers and vendors, assure raw materials are delivered on time, and create action plans to mitigate impacts due to material shortages or supply constraints.
  • Inventory Management: Generate reports to respond to questions about cost of goods, material usage, and raw material run-out scenarios, identify and implement new methods and materials that achieve lower cost without sacrificing quality or perceived customer value.
  • Reports and Analysis: Create and review internal technical specifications for raw materials, maintain vendor and SKU files to SQF and intercompany standards, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 3-5 years of purchasing and contract administration experience.
  • Strong negotiation and follow-up skills.
  • Expertise with ERP/MRP inventory management systems.
  • Able to multi-task and work independently.
