The role of the Systems Integration Manager at Americold Logistics involves planning, executing, and finalizing commissioning and testing activities for new build or retrofit automation projects.

The ideal candidate will own field installation, testing, and troubleshooting through go-live and ramp-up phases, ensuring deadlines are met, KPI performance metrics are intact, and adhere to budget and schedule.


The Systems Integration Manager will lead all development teams in launching greenfield automated cold storage sites, working side by side with the Project Engineering Manager, the Systems Engineer, the Commissioning Manager, automation and software suppliers, and internal IT and systems teams managing all facets of the interior automation installs within cold storage warehouses.

They will support Americold's local and regional operations and maintenance teams pre- and post-go-live to ensure a smooth transition, including training, acceptance, ownership, spare parts management, and preventive maintenance for all automated systems.


This person will also function as a subject matter expert across software systems (WES/WCS), controls, mechatronics, and hardware/devices, applying best practices to improve facility operations and business processes through sustained automation/mechanical reliability and analytics/metrics development-reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute project work plans, commissioning schedules, and transition plans in cooperation with the Americold PM and operations teams and the Automation Supplier commissioning teams.
  • Lead/support all major PLC/WES/WCS/WMS and other system conversions to ensure defect-free launches for automated warehouses.
  • Understand and troubleshoot any problems in integration of mechanical, electrical, or controls systems to enable rate and cycle time.
  • Augment User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Operational Readiness Tests, working with site analysts, project managers, and super-users internal and from external OEM vendors to run all simulations and scripts required to support successful launches and turnovers.
  • Lead gap analysis of future PLC/WES/WCS/WMS implementations with the Systems Engineer and the Commissioning Manager to identify process performance shortfalls.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Meatronics/Automation 7 years of site implementation experience and leadership for automated, complex sites.
  • 5 years' experience in Engineering and/or Automation Operations preferred.
  • Experience managing large systems and physical programs including PLC/WES/WCS/WMS conversions, launches, and automation go-lives.
  • Must be able to work remotely and travel an estimated 75-85% of the time to support projects.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technically advanced in managing warehouse management systems (WMS preferably Blue Yonder) and warehouse execution systems (WES), implementations, and PLC controls a plus.
  • Proficient with data mining and data analysis tools; SQL/database query/extraction, Cobra, Excel, Power BI, Jaspersoft, etc.
  • Systems Engineering experience and ongoing site support.
