Job Description:

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Substation Project Engineer to lead a team of engineers and technical specialists in the design and implementation of high-voltage substation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers and technical specialists in the design and implementation of high-voltage substation projects
  • Apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional renewable generation substation projects
  • Provide direction on projects to the department or project team members
  • Travel between worksites and other locations is an essential job function and expectation of the position
  • Coordinate with other project stakeholders to develop and secure a substation site, support any engineering updates, data, and permits necessary to design and build the substation
  • Competitively source, select, and contracting geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services
  • Support Transmission Services during review of interconnection documentation, including system impact studies, facility studies, reactive and harmonic studies, and interconnection agreements
  • Manage all project long lead major material orders to minimize risk of delays or exceeding the project budget
  • Support E&C Estimating with template update via project feedback, technical support, and scope modifications
  • Works collaboratively with project engineering resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities, work plans, and lines of demarcation
  • Ensures projects are efficiently, cost-effectively, and safely implemented in accordance with department process, procedures, industry standards, and policies
  • Support assigned project commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives
  • Support Legal in any regulatory filings, depositions, and/or hearings
  • Collaborate with component OEMs to enhance/adapt their designs to better integrate with philosophies
  • Conducts external research and stays abreast of new developments or innovative advancements pertaining to the project
  • Provides coaching, leadership, and direction to project teams

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects is highly preferred
  • Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience with a strong bias for action. PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline is a plus
  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE)/ Project Management (PMP)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural engineering
