Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Neurology Care Specialist. This is a full-time, night shift position on our 24-bed Telemetry unit, where you will be part of a comprehensive stroke program and provide care for patients with neurology, neurosurgery, TIA, and CVA conditions.

About the Role

The successful candidate will implement professional nursing practice centered on patient care and create a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. They will honor patients' mind, body, and spirit by respecting human dignity and uniqueness. The nurse will utilize evidence-based practices and current research to make clinical decisions, incorporating all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity.

Responsibilities

The Neurology Care Specialist will spend over 50% of their time coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit, including provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities; patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning.

Requirements

To be eligible for this role, candidates must have:
  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university
  • Candidate with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor's degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years
  • Basic life support
  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment
